RE: 2000 Lance 825

Yes someone earlier posted the 825 was an 815 with the shortbox modification skirts, mine also has those. I tried to get a trap from the wharehouse in Indiana direct from NIBCO no luck the only way I was able to get was order it from a Lance dealer. I spent a great deal of time and effort to get one of these better off to just pay the dealer. The thing is easy to get at panel with 4 screws. I replaced it so I had a spare in case it did not work. I saw one at a show here in Mi, I ended up buying mine on Ebay in Ca 2500 miles away it was half of new and I had some time and wanted a reason to go out there. I have since added a flat screen tv, xm radio, microwave, lots of caulk and I plan on unloading the 13.5 coleman that came on the roof. I am very happy with the thing its a very tuff, compact, well designed unit. Still the best one for the money I have seen. We could start our own little click like the outfitter guys have(that was humour) Watch these posts many happy campers own them.

RE: 2000 Lance 825

The 815 is the only Lance that does this to my knowlege. The bypass was easy enough I ordered a new trap and tapped a pipe fitting into the side with a street 90 and ball valve. Mine is an 04 I just liked the layout very efficient I bought it used so the price was right too. I don't think they changed the 815 the 825 is completely new as was stated before. Mine is all wood very solid. I did have a leak around that dang front window this year caught it before it did a lot of damage. I think wood is good I would not trust Alm welds done buy production people. I am a Licensed home builder as well as certified welder wood is more forgiving and easier to repair down the road. My fresh water tank is in the lower front bulkhead area as most of them are puts the weight where it needs to be. It is heated as long as the heat is on. If this one got sucked up by a big twister I would buy another to replace it that says it all.

RE: 2000 Lance 825

I have an 815 note the shower drains into the BLACK(10gal) which is not heated and sits right under the stool. I put in a bypass valve that I can open and drain the shower water out through a garden hose, before it reaches the black tank. The gray tank(11gal) hangs under the wing drivers side, not heated. The fresh water is 18 can always add more. I have camped when it was in the low 20's at night without any trouble can always add a little anifreeze but the stuff in the tanks is by nature less likely to freeze. The tanks have not been an issue for me but I do conserve. 5 to 7 days are very possible.

RE: Home Depot supply cart as dolly

I built a wood frame 8'x 44" about 36" high. I used some fiber casters 5" 2 swivel 2 straight I put cross members every 12" with joist hangers. There is one very similar in the TCU section. I can push it around with one hand. When its sitting outside like now in season the casters simply sit in little plywood boxes on my gravel pad next to the garage. It supports the camper as the truck bed does.

RE: truck camper and hurricane on its way....what to do??

You can buy these auger anchors from a MH supply place screw them into the ground and tydown to them. I once backed a heavy loader up to the SW corner of mine and chained the tc to it. I road out some Heavy duty SD winds that night. Good luck.

RE: Old fashioned parallel parking whiskers

10-4 on the block stacking suggestion. Those blocks have zero structural value when placed that way.

Duramax/Tc combo

With the new incentives that are out there I have noticed it is driving the prices for used trucks down as well. At least here in the midwest there are some great buys compared to just a year or 2 ago. I recently could have bought an 01 gmc lt duramax with low miles for under 12k. I would have bought it but I was a day late. My question is what years gave the best MPG loaded and unloaded, some have have 5 speed some 6 speed and I know as the gov kept jumping in too screw with them they lost some economy. Also what years had what problems to look out for? I know this is more a truck question than camper, but I am looking for real world experiance similar to what I will run into with my 815 and small trailers.( Harley, boat, job)

RE: Kayak(s) on the roof?

I too have been looking at and trying out different kayaks for some time. Why would you rather sit on it than in it? Don't you get wet sitting on it. I have tried both styles and much prefer to sit in the boat. I also felt the sit in much more stable.

RE: "beefing up" the rear overhang...??

Just a side note, pressure treated wood including plywood is really not all that good quality. I used some for gunwhale cushions on our Grady White and they rotted out completly in 3 years. For real longevity use marine grade plywood. Marine grade is laminated under pressure with moisture resistant glues. It is pricey but if you are going to take the time to do it use the right stuff. The marine grade cushions have been in service 5 years now and still solid.

RE: pictured rocks national lake shore

Pictured Rocks is a National Lakeshore not really a National Park. The whole area is very nice. I was there in July we stayed in a National Forest Campground about 20 miles South. I've never been to 12 mile beach but I will say everything up there is nice, clean, and well maintaned.

RE: Buyers Beware!!!!!!

I am with the OP on this one, what with all the free publicity they get on this site I would have expected a major bustling industrial facility. I think I would have called ahead and asked a few few questions like what hours are tours availible, how many units per month are produced, employees on staff? Looking at it now you can see they have a small family of happy customers, that are very proud of and enjoy the product. Some of those customers are also very good with computer stuff and very active on the internet. It all makes sense now. I would still stroungly concider the line if I was looking for that style on unit.

RE: 2001 Lance 1010 Suburban Water Heater

Did you try turning it down a little. That small lever on the back of the gas valve is a stat, mine would cook a little too untill I turned it down.

RE: Pets & TC Camping - Any Problems?

My dog scooter a 10lbs peekapoo goes where I go, including work and play. He really enjoys camping. He loves to interact and display his dominance to the other dogs in the campground. He is also fond of children, on top of that he is a "chick magnet" the ladies all love scooter. We have been to Ca and back and many other places never any problems.

RE: Truck Shell Easy On/Off

I have 4 treated 4x4s in the ground at the 4 corners of the cap about a foot wider than the truck. I simply back up between them undo the clamps and lift the topper up slide a 2x4 under the topper onto the top of the posts. The posts are about 4 inches higher than the truck bed. Once both are under I just pull out. I then brace a little and reclamp to the 2x4s works great

RE: hard side vs popup, towing mileage etc etc

I've had both, I lost about 2mpg with the hard sider but hieght differance was significant. I also lose about 1 mpg when pulling my small boat or the cargo trailer with a Harley vacume breaker aside.

RE: Hood above stove

On my 815 that thing just sucks air in through that grease screen and blows it right back out 6 inches to the side. Most all range fans work this way anymore, about worthless. I removed mine and put in a microwave shelf in its place. I will install a powered vent some day to remove the smoke steam and other cooking gases. At least that will do something other than just blow it around. The new shelf works great and holds a little .7 micro above the range. 50 bucks at WM had the shelf parts on hand. I did the mod on a rainy day camping in the UP eh.

RE: Need Microwave

I just ordered a GE JESO736SM from WM $51 delivered to the store. It was small enough to fit in the cabinet. Once I got it I decided to remove the useless power vent and install a shelf for the little micro. That way I still have the cabinet space. I went up to Mi UP took all the stuff and did the mod on a rainy day when I could'nt ride the Harley.

RE: How to attach things to ceiling?

I used the dense foam rod holders, mounted those to a block of teak wood about 4x6 then just use 5200 or liquid nails and glue the blocks to the ceiling. The adheasives on the market today do the job no screws holes needed. If I need to remove the holders just unscrew them and leave the mounting blocks in place. Sorry no pics.
